AngelsUnaware

I dream a world where man
No other man will scorn,
Where love will bless the earth
And peace its paths adorn
I dream a world where all
Will know sweet freedom's way,
Where greed no longer saps the soul
Nor avarice blights our day.
A world I dream where black or white,
Whatever race you be,
Will share the bounties of the earth
And every man is free,
Where wretchedness will hang its head
And joy, like a pearl,
Attends the needs of all mankind-
Of such I dream, my world!

The Story that isnt even there

What was going on in North America in the 40s and 50s. Why did the Revised standard version of the bible become the first translation to use the word homosexual.

Why do people seem to put so much emphasis on the Sodom and Gamora story.

Listen in and prepare to be proud of Mike MacMillan for outing the erroneous translation and emphasis. Listen in as Mike shows how even Elijah and describes the tings wrong with Sodom and Gamora. You’ll have to listen to the podcast to find the answer. Hint: it wasn’t at all to do with what you think.

Enjoy our podcast and discover that the world is a much more beautiful place with all the colors of the rainbow,

Be Like Brit

Britney Gengel was a beautiful, fearless and compassionate 19 year old when she decided to travel to the country of Haiti with her college, Lynn University. Upon her arrival, Britney was overwhelmed by the devastating poverty visible everywhere. Despite their living conditions, the children she met gave her so much love she was inspired to send the following text to her mother just three hours before the earthquake:

"They love us so much and everyone is so happy. They love what they have and they work so hard to get nowhere, yet they are all so appreciative. I want to move here and start an orphanage myself."

Celtic Spirituality

This week, to recognize St Patrick’s day Mike reflects on the writings of John Philip Newell and Celtic Spirituality

Too often in the past our approach to truth has been to assume that we have it and others do not. Consequently, we have thought that our role is to tell people what to believe. We are being invited instead into a new humility, to serve the holy wisdom that is already stirring in the hearts of people everywhere, the growing awareness of earth’s interrelatedness and sacredness

Lenten Journey

Give up and Go Do?
The return gives meaning to the going forth.
We don’t know where we’ve been until we come back to where we were, only where we were may not be as it was because of who we have become.
Your lenten journey no matter what path you find yourself on, no matter what kind of wilderness you find yourself in , will be one in which you emerge transformed in some way.

The work of Christmas now begins

I will light Candles this Christmas;
Candles of joy despite all sadness;
Candles of hope where despair keeps watch, Candles of courage for fears ever present;
Candles of peace for tempest-tossed days, Candles of grace to ease heavy burdens, Candles of love to inspire all my living, Candles that will burn all year long.
When the song of the angels is stilled, When the star in the sky is gone, When the kings and princes are home, When the shepherds are back
with their flock,
The work of Christmas begins: To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among others, To make music in the heart.

On Being Exceptional

Yes, that is Widor’s Toccata from his Symphony #5.
That song is a bit of a compromise with today’s speaker Carl Vom Eigen.
Carl tries to be like Jesus and motivate people to throw him off a cliff.
Carl has an 11th commandment that is No Carols during advent!.
So the Widor piece is a good compromise.

Sit back and listen to Carl’s insightful message on exceptionalism. I chose insightful for it’s double entandre when spoken.

Listen as Carl takes us to the edge and then makes us want to push him off. Just don’t push. He’s a good guy and we like him.

#54 Jesus-Bourdain-And-Feast

Anthony Bourdain and Jesus intersect in many ways. Many of Jesus’ sayings revolved around eating and dining. And dining with a great variety of people. In losing Anthony Bourdain we lose a window into the message of Jesus . the message to discover our communality with other humans via the fork, the knife, the plate, the naan, and of corse the bread.

Welcome to podcast #54 from Faith UCC in Dunedin Florida.

Listen to this week’s episode as Mike MacMillan continues his exploration of current event. Listen as he links Anthony Bourdain to World Communion Sunday.

Truly, No Reservations needed because all are welcome.

TheUnjustJudge

In the parable of the persistent widow (Luke 18:1-8), a poor, powerless person (the widow) persists in nagging a corrupt, powerful person (the judge) to do justice for her. The parable assumes John the Baptist’s teaching that holding a position of power and leadership obligates you to work justly, especially on behalf of the poor and weak.
